Replays

So, not gonna lie. Earlier today I was feeling really really really bummed about how craptacular I played last night and well earlier today because I lost! QQ Losing is definitely not my strongest spot at all! So I had a little pity party, here I lost in sc2 even though I thought I was doing great and I've been feeling ridiculously sick as well. Then the little bookmark where I have the Star Nation trailer on my bookmark caught my eye. So I listened to the genius that is White-Ra and figured to hell with it I'm going to watch the replay and figure out what I did wrong. And to be honest, it wasn't so much what I did wrong because I really did pretty good. The truth was that my poor booty was going to get rushed by the other player (Who happened to be Kitty, but she's still awesome :D ).

My timings were pretty much okay (there's always going to be room for improvement) and I was getting upgrades. What I learned is that I let myself become supply blocked which is definitely not good but i can work on it! So yeah even though I didn't win the match, I still can see where I've learned a lot from the time that I first started playing. I also see it as the fact that hey I DID learn something and maybe that'll make me better and maybe it won't. But at least I learned my own failures and shortcomings on this.

So thank you Mr.Aleksey "White-Ra" Krupnyk for being awesome! And for inspiring me. There are so many amazing players in SC2 but for me watching white-ra playand his interaction with people is so amazing that he makes me want to strive to be that kind of person. Who is always looking what I can do better not only in game play but in my life and being so mannered about things as he does them. Well that's my fan girl moment for the day. <3 white-ra!

More StarCraft 2, Kitty, 4v4 and yay... Bronze!!!!

Well since my last post wasn't the most incredible thing ever I'll let you know what I've been up to the last week. Well as many people are also in the twitter universe, I must say that I have met some incredible people there. One of my friends there is Kitty and we've known each other for a little bit. She's pretty awesome and is completely in love with Day[9]. In fact her and her friend Izzak were chosen for Funday Monday Episode 381. She was beyond belief thrilled. From there she invited me to play a game with her and her friend Izzak.

Now I am a horrible player for those wondering, my timings are off, I struggle with hot keys and control groups. But the important thing is that I keep trying and playing regardless of how bad I really am and of course having fun! So we decided to do placement games into 4v4 and you guessed it we placed BRONZE! Okay now some people probably don't think that's great but everyone starts somewhere. Also it helped eliminating some of the fears I had of laddering. Do I plan on doing 1v1's not quite yet, I definitely want to get the idea of hot keys and control groups down a little more before I attempts that.

If anyone out there is playing and is freaked out about laddering I would definitely say trying 3v3 or 4v4 is great! It definitely helps you get an idea of what a game is like but the fact that you have other people there helps reduce the anxiety level. Personally, I'm super hard on myself and I want to be great at everything right away. But of course I must quote one of my all time favorite players... White-Ra more gg, more skill. And actually one of my favorite things to watch when I'm feeling kind of down is White-Ra for Star Nation MLG Anaheim. Also on a side note the band playing in the background is Mother Falcon and they are such an amazing group that i had the chance to meet at FunFunFun Fest last year. Definitely check them out. I guess that's really all for now. Thanks for reading ^.^

MLG Providence, DreamHack and Thanksgiving

Well I have fantastically failed at updating this recently. Lots of big things happened this month for SC2! There was MLG providence which produced Leenock as the winner. I think the best part of that for me was seeing how he came from open bracket to take it all. Goes to show you what practice and dedication can do for you. (I should really take my own advice and practice more often. We also just had DreamHack!!!! Yay! That tournament it self was amazing to watch also. It was great to see since my mom came into town and she actually sat down and watched it with me. She has also decided that Liquid TLO is her favorite.

So basically that's what I've done aside from pulling ridiculous hours at work the past couple of weeks. So I haven't had much time recently to do much on SC2. if anyone has any good practice ideas or places to go learn I'm up for it! I watch day9's daily and I've gone over some (not all) of the newbie tuesdays.

Sorry this is such a craptacular update! I'll be practicing SC2 more this week and hopefully will be able to post some of my fantastic successes and failures. And yes I openly welcome the failures because that's the only way to learn and become better ^.^

Oh goodness what have I gotten myself into?!

Okay, so this is the first time I'm attempting to blog and I'm sure i'm gonna suck at these first few posts. I ask you all to bear with me while I struggle with this.

A few months back my friends were all getting into this little well known game called StarCraft 2. I had heard about it since I was invited to the beta. (To answer questions now, I didn't really play in the beta because well I had no idea what the hell I was doing). Since I didn't understand it then I really didn't see the point in buying it upon release. Fast forward to a few months ago and I figured well why not, I'm getting kind of bored with WoW and my friends play. And though they play my key friend in really getting me like SC2 is Amy.

Amy is that awesome friend who is so passionate about things that you can't help but be infected with curiosity about them. She introduced me to the Day[9] daily, reddit and team liquid. Then my first big tournament to watch was IPL 3 (which was amazing to see all of these pro players) but the biggest one for me was MLG Orlando. After seeing these players and learning more about them I found myself having people who I really liked watching play and would cheer for. I can say that after MLG Orlando I was pretty much hooked. It was like hell yea! Star Craft 2 baby! Don't get me wrong, a lot of people I know say watch Day[9] daily #100 in which Sean talks about his life in starcraft. Yes, I will admit it gives you so much insight to how people really care for this game and what it means to so many but something about watching the tournaments is just sooo much more amazing to me. =D

As I said earlier, i decided yes this it what I'm going to do! I'm pumped! Then it came down to what race to play. Amy suggest Terran since they were the easiest, so I played them for a bit and man did I suck. Plus seeing Protoss was like OMG!!!! They're so pretty and shiny!!! (I'm pretty sure I have undiagnosed ADD). So Amy being the amazing friend she is suggest I play them. And  I was so happy seeing how pretty they are that I didn't care how bad I sucked. I would win a few games against the AI but nothing major. So I've switched back to Terran but I hoping to learn protoss and zerg eventually. ^.^

The hardest part for me so far has been trying to motivate myself to play while going back to school, working full time and well also looking into a new job. But all in all I'm excited to see where this all heads out for me in the wonderful world of SC. I know this blog is a little well spastic and goes probably sounds like me rambling. So i'll fix another post soon when it's not almost 2 in the morning. =)
